Twelve books, ten weeks, one very good ice-cream party. The Summer Reading Challenge opens this Saturday with the kickoff party on the front steps — stickers for starters, medals for finishers, and a reading garden full of beanbags in between.
How it works
Pick up a challenge card at any desk, read any twelve books at your level, and collect a stamp per book. Six stamps earns the halfway badge; twelve earns the medal, the party invitation and your name on the summer wall. Grown-ups get their own card — the staff competition is notoriously fierce.
“My son read under the covers with a torch. I consider that a complete parenting victory.” — a 2025 finisher’s mother
Dates for the diary
- Kickoff party: Saturday, front steps, 11:00 AM — stories, crafts and sign-ups.
- Mid-summer sleepover (stuffies only): your toy spends the night in the stacks.
- Medal ceremony: final Saturday of August, with ice cream.
